It's "code"-your-own doodle day on the Google home page because the search large celebrates the a centesimal birthday on Saturday of Alan Turing — the English mathematician, cryptanalyst and laptop scientist — with an interactive doodle.
The doodle is galvanized by the Turing Machine, a tool conceptualized by Turing that helps laptop scientists perceive the boundaries of mechanical computation. (Google celebrated somewhat early within the U.S., letting it go live at seven p.m. ET on Friday.)
